‘VIVID 2025’ SPECIAL EDITION NIGHT PHOTOGRAPHY EXPERIENCE – South-East Pylon, Sydney Harbour Bridge

This night photography experience is run on various evenings throughout VIVID Sydney

Runs from 6pm to 9pm

This celebrated annual event offers a unique opportunity to capture the colours of the city light projections under the guidance of a professional photographer. This experience features front row seats of the breathtaking immersive light projections on the iconic Sydney Opera House sails and Harbour Bridge along with an outdoor exhibition of interactive light sculptures and twinkling lights on the harbour’s water.

For beginners looking for a fun and exciting introduction to digital photography or enthusiasts looking to brush up on their technique. All you need is a Digital SLR or Mirrorless camera with full manual controls, a sturdy tripod and lots of memory space.

At the conclusion of the experience, kick back with a complimentary hot drink and light snacks while you review and chat about your shots with fellow photographers. It’s also a great opportunity to pick your tutors brain on all things photographic.

PLEASE NOTE: YOU WILL NEED TO CLIMB 200 STEPS AND THEN A SMALL LADDER TO REACH THE TOP OF THE GUN DECK. A suitable level of fitness is required.

NOT SUITABLE FOR COMPACT CAMERAS WITHOUT FULL MANUAL CAPABILITY.

A TRIPOD IS ESSENTIAL FOR THIS WORKSHOP – Please note – we do NOT loan tripods.

* A final weather check will be conducted with the Bureau of Meteorology on the afternoon of each workshop.  This may lead to the workshop being postponed in cases of unfavourable weather reports.  The workshop may run in cases of light showers but not in persistent showers or heavy rain.

• Creative use of B (bulb) Setting

THIS NIGHT PHOTOGRAPHY EXPERIENCE IS SUITABLE FOR BOTH BEGINNERS AND AMATEURS USING DIGITAL SLR OR MIRRORLESS CAMERA WITH MANUAL CAPABILITY

The experience  is not recommended for compact cameras without full manual mode

You will need:

• Your Camera(s)
• A sturdy tripod (this is essential)
• A selection of lenses if you have more than one and you would like to experiment with them
• A torch (to be used to see your cameras control in the dark)
• Lens Hood if you have one
• Blank formatted memory Card(s)
• Fully charged camera battery and spare if you have one
• Your cameras manual(s) – for referencing those hard to find features
• Dress casual & comfortable with sensible shoes - You will need to climb 200 Steps to the top

Note: A tripod is ESSENTIAL for this workshop. A lens hood & wide angle lens are recommended. If you do not already have a lens hood or tripod – you should consider purchasing them at your earliest convenience as they are an essential part of any good photography kit.
